발표 제목: New state of matter created from high energy nucleus collisions: Quark-Gluon Plasma

발표 초록: Nuclear and particle physics studies fundamental particles and interactions among these particles. For a detailed study, particularly on the strong force which binds quarks into hadrons and nucleons into the nucleus, experiments of high energy hadron collision are performed at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (BNL) and Larger Hadron Collider (CERN). When heavy nuclei accelerate to almost the speed of light and collide, nuclear matters of very high temperature and energy density can be created. We can study the strong interaction among these fundamental particles in this new state of matter called Quark-Gluon Plasma, where quarks and gluons are not confined anymore. This research is also related to the study of the very early universe. In this presentation, I’ll introduce experiments of high energy nuclear physics, what has been learned so far, and plans for the next experiments.
