Description
The Neutrino Elastic-Scattering Observation with NaI(Tl) (NEON) experiment is primarily designed to detect coherent elastic neutrino–nucleus scattering (CEνNS), but is also being expanded to investigate dark sector particles emitted by high-energy photons from the reactor core.
Robust background characterization is essential for defining signals from the interactions of our interest in the experimental data. We present background modeling of the NEON dataset, and report recent progress toward searches for dark sector particles based on this background model.
