Description

High-energy neutrinos provide a unique window into the most extreme environments in the Universe, carrying information from otherwise inaccessible regions and offering a complementary view to electromagnetic and gravitational-wave observations. Since the discovery of the diffuse flux of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, IceCube and other large-scale water Cherenkov detectors have been searching for the sources responsible for this flux. In this talk, I will review the major scientific achievements of IceCube and other leading experiments, and discuss the next steps toward identifying the sources of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos.
